Help Make a Difference! Check Out The Latest Volunteer Opportunities With Healthy Notions

Is your organization, school, church, youth group or community social club looking for a great way to volunteer time? Are you a student who would like to volunteer your time for a worthy cause?

FEATURED VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

3rd annual “Show Love with Your Soles” used shoe drive campaign to benefit orphaned children in Haiti and Dominican Republic!

       When? Now through March 19th

Why shoes?

  • A simple pair of shoes serves to protect children’s feet from cuts, bruises, and life-threatening diseases and illnesses which can be contracted through the feet. In many cases, children run barefoot because they have no shoes. When they cut themselves or scratch themselves while running around playing, and then step into contaminated water, parasites and other things get into their body. In fact, many die that way.
  •  Without shoes children in Haiti can’t attend school. Only 15% of children in rural Haiti attend school. The gift of a pair of shoes will allow a child to get an education

How can you get involved?  Check out the details of this and other opportunities at VolunteerMatch.org  and Don’t forget to SIGNUP!

Get Ready for 3rd Annual “Show Love with Your Soles” Used Show Drive!

Healthy Notions is gearing up to kickoff  the 3rd Annual “Show Love with Your Soles” campaign.  Every year our organization works with volunteers in our local community and throughout the state to collect shoes for orphaned kids in Haiti and Dominican Republic through our “Show Love With Your Soles” campaign.

In 2010, with the help of our amazing volunteers and supporters we were able to donate over 30,000 pair of new and gently used shoes for children in need.  With your help,we can make a major impact again! It is our hope and prayer to continually increase shoe distributions, with each passing year, as the Healthy Notions family continues to grow.

In Haiti an estimated 640,000 children under the age of fifteen live in extreme poverty.  Most children in Haiti have no shoes and can get sick from the cuts, sores, life threatening diseases and infections they get on their bare feet.   The gift of a decent pair of shoes can often be a cause for celebration.

Winter is On the Way! Volunteer or Donate to Help with Warm Coats for Kids

Healthy Notions is gearing up for the 3rd Annual Warm Coats for Kids drive.
The mission of Warm Coats for Kids is to simply provide coats and warm outwear to children and women throughout Metro Atlanta and N. Georgia shelters, fostercare and children’s homes that are in need.  We will begin accepting gently used or new warm kids, adult and baby sized winter coats and outerwear for the 2010/2011 winter coat drive on Oct 11th through Dec 3rd.
Since 2008, Healthy Notions volunteers and partners have helped collect, sort and distribute over 2,000 winter coats to children and women who would otherwise be without one. The program has received invaluable support from collection, promotional, supporting and distribution partners as well as individuals.
We re looking forward to another successful year, with plenty of winter outerwear, coats and warmth given to those in need but WE NEED YOUR HELP! Here’s how you can get involved and take action this fall:
  • Become a Collection Partner: Help collect winter coats so they can be distributed to kids in need.
  • Become a Supporting Partner: Make a financial contribution and/or give in-kind donations to directly benefit the Warm Coats for Kids School Rewards Program.
  • Involve your school: Organize a school wide coat drive and participate in the Warm Coats for Kids School Rewards Program.
  • Make a financial contribution to purchase a coat for a child. $20 will buy a new warm winter coat for a child in need.  All donations are tax deductible.
