The LSR Experience

Healthy Notions Kids is pleased to offer the live studio recording experience as children perform original tunes, designed to inspire dreams and bright hope for the future. Through creative stimulation and musical performance children are encouraged to expand their individual potential, build self-esteem, develop literacy, and communication skills.

Thanks to SAE studios, children and parents received a full tour, and were educated on the process and engineering required to deliver a professional music production. Most people consider it only a dream to perform in a state of the art facility. However, children who participate in LSR are able to embrace a live experience that they will always remember.

NAHM
On October 4th, President Barack Obama declared October as National Arts and Humanities Month through Presidential Proclamation. Within the proclamation, President Obama states: “Like Rockwell’s painting, art in all its forms often challenges us to consider new perspectives and to rethink how we see the world… This is the power of the arts and humanities — they speak to our condition and affirm our desire for something more and something better.”

Creative Art Workshops Provoke Children to Envision Themselves In The Future

Children from all over the Metro Atlanta area came together on Sept 17th and 24th to work with local artists, teachers and volunteers at Art Space International gallery to imagine, think and explore the endless possibilities for their lives and paint their “future self portraits”.

The Creative Art Program presented by Healthy Notions is designed to give children 6-12yrs a voice for creative and artistic expression.

“The arts may be one of the most valuable tools of discovery in helping children deal with mental and emotional stresses of everyday life.”, said Barenda Whitaker, President of Healthy Notions. “When you suspect a child might be suppressing emotions or having challenges communicating his or her feelings, encouraging a child to pick up a paintbrush may provide the perfect outlet to express what’s going on inside.”

Through creative stimulation, the program encourages young people to expand their individual potential, build self-esteem, develop literacy and communication skills and create hope. Thanks to our generous sponsors, the Healthy Notions Creative Art Program workshops were offered to participants at no cost.Children and volunteer artists will be displaying their work side by side during Gallery Openings and Fundraisers held on Nov.5th at Aqua Blue (Roswell GA) and Nov 12th at Art Space International Gallery (Downtown Atlanta).

Our goal from these events is to spotlight the creativity of the participants of the program, and to raise funds to help us keep our presence in our community as a non-profit organization so that we may continue to give scholarships to children in need, provide free Community Events and Programs, and make a positive difference in the future of the children we serve. Prints of the children’s art work will be available for a small donation.

Thanks for Showing Love With Your Soles!

Thanks to all of the volunteers, sponsors and donors who supported the 3rd annual “Show Love With Your Soles” Campaign and provided gently used and new shoes for children in Dominican Republic and Haiti.

This year…with your help, we were able to collect over 2,000 pair of shoes that will provide children in great need an opportunity to attend school and prevent illness and diseases. The annual “Show Love with Your Soles” campaign began in 2009. Since inception, Healthy Notions has been able to provide over 35,500 pair of shoes to help children in need.  It is our hope and prayer to continually increase shoe distributions, with each passing year, as the Healthy Notions family continues to grow.

Don’t Throw Away Those Shoes! Show Love with Your Soles and Help Kids in Haiti

Cleaning out your closet for Spring? Don’t throw away those shoes! Cut ties with those tennis shoes and clean out the Crocs to help kids in need.

Drop off your gently used shoes at the 3rd annual “Show Love with Your Soles” shoe drive this Saturday, March 19th and help orphaned children in Haiti and Dominican Republic.

In Haiti, less than 65% of children of primary school age are actually enrolled. Many of those children do not attend school, simply because they do not have a pair of shoes to keep them healthy and safe as they make the journey. A simple pair of shoes can protect Haitian children’s feet from bruises, cuts and life threatening diseases that can be contracted through their feet, and can allow these children the opportunity to attend school.

On Saturday, March 19th Healthy Notions will host a final community-wide, shoe drive celebration event at the Kroger located on 3000 Old Alabama Road, Alpharetta GA. Volunteers, families and friends are coming together to drop off, sort and process donations and celebrate the values of kindness, compassion, community responsibility and good citizenship. Please plan to join us and tell a friend!

Drop Off Donations at: Kroger 3000 Old Alabama Road Alpharetta,GA 30022

Local Atlanta Academy Students Help Kids in Haiti

For the past three years, students at the The Atlanta Academy have teamed up with Healthy Notions to help the orphaned children in Haiti by collecting shoes for the “Show Love with Your Soles” shoe drive campaign.

Last year, with the help of the Atlanta Academy and volunteer groups throughout the community, Healthy Notions was able to collect over 30,000 pair of shoes. This year, more than ever, the children of Haiti need our help.

Many area schools, churches and organizations have joined this effort. There will be several supporting shoe collection efforts throughout the city of Atlanta from now till March 19th. The Atlanta Academy, located at 2000 Holcomb Woods Parkway in Roswell, is serving as a drop off location on February 21st through February 25th.

On March 19th, Healthy Notions will host a final community-wide, shoe drive celebration event at the Kroger located on 3000 Old Alabama Road, Alpharetta GA. Volunteers, families and friends are coming together to drop off donations and celebrate the values of kindness, compassion, community responsibility and good citizenship. There will be prizes, food and fun for participants.

If your school or organization would like to sign-up to host a shoe drive, it’s not to late! Email Healthy Notions at volunteer@healthynotionskidscom.wpcomstaging.com or sign-up to serve as a Shoe Drive Coordinator through Volunteermatch.org
